Houston Galleria Children's Clothes: Kids Fashion Trends

M.D. ANDERSON CANCER CENTER CHILDREN'S FASHION SHOW

by Bernadette Verzosa

Five-year-old Celeste could not get enough of the catwalk. After modeling trendy clothes for the children's fashion show, she lingered on stage - spinning around with her little sister.

The afternoon was a welcome respite for Celeste who is undergoing treatment for leukemia. She was one of 42 children – a mix of cancer patients and Page Parkes Agency models - who participated in the Back To School Fashion Show hosted by the Galleria and M.D. Anderson Cancer Center.

At this third annual kids' fashion show, Celeste rocked the runway in OshKosh b'Gosh overalls and sequin tennis shoes. The other girls and boys paraded the season's latest looks, casual and formal, from the Galleria's popular retailers including Brooks Brothers, Macy's, Monsoon Children, Naartjie, The Children's Place and GAP Kids.

What's in style? "We're seeing a lot of bold colors, a lot of plaid for boys and sparkles and knee socks for girls," says Jennifer Harris, Director of Marketing for The Galleria.

Families attending the event were also able to enjoy face painters, balloon artists and interactive LEGO activities. The event was free but donations were encouraged. All donations went to the M.D. Anderson Children's Cancer Hospital.
