DISNEY'S FREAKY FRIDAY - June 2-July 2

This funny yet profound new musical is based on the classic novel by Mary Rodgers and two hit Disney films: the 1976 film starring Jodie Foster and the 2003 movie with actress Lindsay Lohan. A mother and daughter magically swap bodies for 24 chaotic hours. Though they are each forced to live the other's life for a day, they end up on a journey of self-discovery.

Theatre Under The Stars (TUTS) Humphreys School of Musical Theatre (HSMT) presents this musical based on the novel My Love, My Love by Rosa Guy, and inspired by Hans Christian Andersen's The Little Mermaid. The story follows a peasant girl named Ti Moune who falls in love and sets out to prove that love is stronger than death.    

 

THE WORLD ACCORDING TO SNOOPY - June 7-16

Theatre Under The Stars (TUTS) presents this new re-imagining of the musical Snoopy!!! The show features Charles Schulz's iconic Peanuts characters Charlie Brown, Lucy, Linus, Sally, Peppermint Patty and Woodstock. Snoopy leads the Peanuts gang as they sing and dance their way through witty philosophies about love, life and friendship.

LA BAYADERE June 8-18

Houston Ballet caps its season with Stanton Welch's La Bayadére (The Temple Dancer), a classic ballet with a touch of Bollywood. Set in historic royal India, this lavish production presents the story of Nikiya, a temple dancer and her lover Solor. This dramatic ballet explores themes of eternal love, fate, vengeance and justice. La Bayadére's third act, the famous Kingdom of Shades section, showcases 24 female dancers in white tutus executing 38 synchronized and seamless arabesques while descending onto the stage. Main Street Theater presents this family favorite, the musical based on the book by Frank L. Baum. Follow the yellow brick road with Dorothy, Tin Man, Scarecrow, Lion and Toto as they head to Emerald City in search of the wonderful Wizard of Oz! Theatre Under The Stars presents the classic musical Pippin. This circus-inspired production features a troupe of acrobatic performers. The performers' purpose is to tell the story of Pippin, a young prInce who longs for adventure and passion in his life.
 

HARRY POTTER and the SORCERER'S STONE IN CONCERT - JULY 21-22

The Houston Symphony presents this exciting concert for Harry Potter fans! It features the live orchestra performing, to picture, every note from Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone. Audiences will relive the magic of the film in high-definition on a 40-foot screen while hearing the orchestra perform the unforgettable film score by Academ Award-winning composer John Williams.
